The qualification for the AFC Under 20 Women’s Asian Cup kicked off in Cambodia on March 8th, symbolically known internationally as women’s days.
The team who have been busy training at the national acsemdy since February 19th have set the brave goal of qualifying for the second round of the tournament, with national coach and former Boeing Ket number one Prak Vuthy stating “The potential and ability of our women’s team is good because they have gone through the experience of international matches such as the AFF U18 Women’s Championship 2022 in Indonesia. We also have selected some new players to gain experience from the competition and to show our ability in this competition too,”.
Cambodia Under 20’s Women’s Squad
The Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) have called up the following 25 players for the qualifiers: Khon Sak, Torm Rumduol, Rom Molika, John Chita, Doeun Sreynath, Hoeun Theary, Samreth Sreymoch, Nhim Kongkea, Rith Channimol, Samreth Nimol of Siem Reap Football Club; Han Srey Keo and Chea Fariya of Phnom Penh Crown FC; Von Srino and Muth Rath of Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC; Kin Reaksa, Ny Srey Vorn, Sem Sreynang of NagaWorld FC; Sem Malin, Chheang Sreyneck, Von Sreynith of Boeung Ket FC; Tun Kimhong, Thorn Thuna, Im Meysan, Heng Sovannmony of Visakha FC; and Sim Sorita of the Kampong Cham Department of Education, Youth and Sport.
The Matches
The Cambodian women’s U20 national team kicked off against the Myanmar U20 women’s team at RSN Stadium at 4pm on March 8, with their second match, against the Malaysian women’s team taking part on March 10th at 4pm.
The final qualifying match in the group will be between Myanmar and Malaysia on March 12. To qualify directly Cambodia will need to come top of the three team group.
Yuthy further added that he asked all football fans within Cambodia to support the team, as it will be the first time that Cambodia have hosted the event.

Women’s Football in Cambodia
Women’s football is considered one of the fastest growing sports within Cambodia, with their being not only a number of charities and NGO’s supporting the sport, but also top clubs.
In 2023 the Cambodian Premier League (CPL) will launch a female version of the national competition with part of club licensing being that all CPL members must have a functioning women’s team.
